Where Ady's poets met for coffee
Palatul Sztarill (Hotel Astoria)
Architect-builder Ferenc Sztarill designed this corner building beside the theatre for himself in 1902, mixing Secession ironwork with neo-Gothic arches. Its ground-floor EMKE café was the meeting place of Oradea's writers: poet Endre Ady was a regular, and the literary circle 'A Holnap' was born here. Since 1930 it has been a hotel, today the Astoria.
